Welcome to the Pomona College Computer Science Web pages! Here you will
find information about our department and the people who are part of it. We are
a small, closely-knit group of students and faculty interested in both the
theoretical and practical aspects of computer science. Pomona's CS department
collaborates closely with the Harvey Mudd
College CS Department to provide a solid foundation of study in computer
science within the broader context of a liberal arts education.
Students may choose from a wide range of CS courses. In addition,
opportunities exist for students to work on cutting-edge research projects
with CS faculty members. Upon completion of the CS major, students are
well-prepared to continue on to more advanced studies at the graduate level,
or to embark upon technological careers in the computer industry.
Pomona College is the founding member of the Claremont Colleges, a unique constellation of five small undergraduate colleges and two graduate institutions located in beautiful southern California near the foothills of the San Gabriel mountains, about 35 miles east of Los Angeles. Students of the Claremont Colleges can cross-register for courses at any of the colleges, and have access to a shared library system containing over 2 million volumes. Pomona students thus enjoy the advantages of personalized instruction and close faculty-student interaction in a small liberal arts college setting, combined with the intellectual and extracurricular resources typically found at much larger universities.
The Turrell Skyscape, Dividing the Light, has now been formally dedicated in our courtyard. Our tribute to the work is now available.
